Poetry Project

Q For the poetry unit, you will create a lesson on poetry. Step 1: Choose a theme to explore, such as love, parent-child relationships, identity, etc. Step 2: Select at least 5 poems to illustrate your theme from either the Poetry Foundation or the Academy of America Poetry. These should be poems we have not already read/discussed in class. Step 3: Create a video or narrated presentation (PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.) for your anthology as if you were teaching the class a lesson on poetry. This presentation must include: Both images and text. This should be pleasing to look at, not crammed with text, stretched images, etc. Explain the theme you chose, why that theme is important. How each poem (don’t forget to include the name of the poem and the poet) links to the selected theme. Illustrate an understanding of poetic elements within the theme, such as alliteration, voice, rhyme, poetic form, etc. What did you learn about poetry through the study of these poems? Make sure to cite anything you researched about the poems or poet. How has your perception of poetry changed over the course?
